This video will show you how EasyRead, a proven reading intervention, uses visual trainertext to give kids training wheels for reading until they can read proficiently alone!
Like riding a bike, reading
requires instruction
and practice.
Typical Phonics Instruction Works…
Phonics instruction teaches decoding (reading) explictly, which is great! However, most programs first teach a series of rules and then teach the numerous exceptions in English.
Struggling readers get frustrated and begin to use strategies to compensate when they can’t read a word.Often, they will try:
1. Guessing by the word shape.
2. Memorizing all words in English.
3. Skipping words when reading.
These strategies fail.
Readers become frustrated and lose the joy of reading!
EasyRead Works Better!
EasyRead is a reading intervention which provides Direct Phonics Instruction (a structured system, like a bike) PLUS Visual Trainertext (pictophones like training wheels) that results in successful reading (decoding) practice.
Here’s an example:
There is a "cartoon-like" trainertext set for younger children and a "symbol-like" set for older children.
Visual Trainertext (pictophone) floats above the English letters
“r” first sound rabbit/ring
“E” first sound eagle/equal
“d” first sound in duck/door
The Trainertext helps kids sound out even the toughest words without stress!
